Fairy Tale Homestead Day 24

Today, I will be creating floral decorations for the outside of the dollhouse. This process will demonstrate that this kit is not suitable for beginners. The items are quite challenging to make and require prior experience with miniatures.

The baskets for the floral plants are made of paper and lack folding guidelines. I recommend using the bottom base as a guide instead. This particular kit complicates the assembly process unnecessarily and is not very user-friendly. They chose flimsy paper rather than card stock, making it much harder to work with. You can use the paper as a template and cut the pieces from card stock yourself.

Once the basket is assembled, it is covered in twine, which I attached using hot melt glue. Then, you can use the provided floral sprigs to create your plants. You can follow the instruction photos or use your creativity to design your own arrangements. I like to add a little bit of cotton to the insides of the baskets to make adhering the floral sprigs a little easier. You can use floral putty or whatever you prefer.

You will also need to make wire plant stands, which can be very challenging. It’s important to bend the wire correctly while keeping it symmetrical on both sides. This kit includes complex wire pieces but lacks templates for shaping them. The best way to shape wire is to keep it flat on a surface. I used the finished plants as a measurement for the size of the wire stands since I have previously encountered issues with the measurements provided in instructions, which led to wasted wire. This kit has limited materials, so it's best to avoid any waste so be as precise as possible.
