The Cake Shop Room Box

This kit was a little more elaborate than The Happy Kitchen. Many of the techniques you will learn from these kits will be useful for making miniatures for your dollhouses.

The funnest thing I learned from making this kit was how to make cakes out of different colored felt, cut into circles and layered on top of eachother. A thin lace creates the icing. You can then embellish your cakes with clay fruit slices. A very cost effective way to make all kinds of treats for a bake shop.

Making precise cuts will make the difference in your finished product. For this reason, do not use scissors. These items are too small to obtain details using scissors. It's best to use a craft knife for all cutting.

Make sure your folded box edges are sharp because that will create better detail.

I suggest you glue everything in place. These items are tiny and the room box will be moved for viewing. The last thing you want is for items to constantly shift or fall. They are delicate, so you don't want to handle them too much. Gluing them in place will ensure that they don't become damaged or lost.
