Fairy Tale Homestead Day 30

Today, I assembled the staircases, which will take several days to complete in order to give them proper drying time.

To assemble them, follow the instructions carefully. Count the steps in each staircase and space them evenly, leaving gaps between each step, especially in the middle staircase as they are not cut to fit tightly together. The illustrations do not account for these gaps, so ensure the top and bottom steps are flush with the staircase base edges and the gaps are evenly spaced.

Make sure the steps are attached to the correct side of the staircase bases, as each base has notches at the ends that must be properly aligned for installation on the corresponding floors.

For installing the railings, lay the assembled staircase on its side and use a cutting mat to keep the railing posts straight. Ensure the railings are installed on the correct side of each staircase, as laying them down can cause confusion. Do not proceed until you are certain of the correct position.

Let the railings dry overnight before standing the staircases up, as there is limited adhesion area and the railings can easily break off.

Once dry, add the runners. These are made by cutting fabric using templates and then adding trim to the edges. I used hot melt glue to attach the runners quickly and prevent them from shifting out of place.
